This route provides the opportunity to “trek high and sleep low” which is considered important in minimizing the potential for altitude sickness. The climb starts above the picturesque mountain village of Machame to the south of Kilimanjaro. After passing through the Machame forest and into the moorland zone, we scramble up and over some rocks and eventually emerge onto the Shira Plateau. We then advance counter-clockwise traversing below the southern face of Kibo, climb Lava Tower for magnificent 360 degree panoramas, ascend the Great Barranco Wall, a challenging and exhilarating rock scramble, and approach Uhuru Summit from Barafu or Kossovo Camp and the ridge that abuts the Southeast Valley. The climb from Barafu offers incredible views of Mawenzi Peak and Kilimanjaro’s remnant volcanic cone.

Machame route begins from the south-western side of the mountain; the trail passes through some of the mountains finest features, including the cloud forest of Kilimanjaro’s southern plains, the dry and dusty Shira Plateau and the delightful groundsel-clad Barranco campsite. Furthermore, you have a choice of ascent routes to the summit, with the thrill-seekers opting for the daunting Western Breach route to the summit, while majority head for the lengthy, long winded climb up the Barafu trail, with the Rebmann glacier edging into your field of vision on your left as dawn breaks behind Mawenzi on your right. Furthermore, unlike Marangu route, on Machame route you don’t use the same path to descend as you took to climb up the mountain but instead you come down via the Mweka route, a steep but very pretty descent encompassing inhospitably dry mountain desert and lush lowland forest in a matter of a few hours

RONGAI ROUTE 7 DAY begins at the remote, northern side of Kilimanjaro, near the Kenyan border. We hike through a true wilderness area towards the jagged Mawenzi Peak, then cross a barren desert saddle, before climbing up Kibo’s eastern crater wall. The Rongai route is a more gradual ascent, and is therefore preferred by those with little or no backpacking experience, but is equally enjoyable for even the most hardened trekkers. As mentioned above, an additional acclimatization day on Day 5 is added. During this day, we will do additional acclimatization hikes around and up to the saddle towards Camel’s Back.

The huts are shared by all climbers and the bunks have sponge mattresses and pillows so require fewer supplies. The Marangu Route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. It is, unfortunately, less scenic than other routes because the ascent and descent are on the same path. Compared to other routes, it offers relative luxury. Kilimanjaro 8 Days Lemosho Route is a very special itinerary designed for those wishing to make the ascent to the summit in the daylight hours as well as with sun rise. You will pass by Kibo crater rim, and trek to the top of the inner Reusch crater and cross the Shira Plateau. It takes us through magnificent scenery with views of the Great Rift Valley, Mt Meru and Longido. Some wildlife can be seen during trekking. The route is more scenic compared to other Kilimanjaro Routes.
