Shira route starts on the Western Site of the Kilimanjaro. It is almost the same as the Lemosho route. But on the first day, you ascend to the 2nd camp of the Lemosho route. Only after that, do the two routes correspond. Shira Route is one of the older and less frequented routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers a challenging yet rewarding climb with stunning scenery and diverse landscapes. Shira Route is known for its breathtaking views, particularly across the vast Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in the world. Lemosho Route: Approaching from the west, the Lemosho route is a relatively new route and is one of the best for scenery. It is one of our highly recommended routes, not only for its stunning scenery, but also due to its steady incline and better acclimatization. The first two days of the climb are quiet and have relatively low traffic, before joining the more popular Machame route. Time period is 7days and 8days.

The Lemosho Route is relatively new. It starts on the Western side of Mount Kilimanjaro at the Londorossi Gate and was introduced as an alternative to the Shira Route which begins at a higher, more challenging altitude. The Londorossi Gate is a fair drive from the town of Moshi, and considerably further from Arusha. At the gate, you will register with the authorities before being driven a further 12km to the starting point. The western side of Kilimanjaro is still very wild and you may get lucky and spot large antelope, buffalo and maybe even elephant. The Lemosho Route joins the Machame Route at Lava Tower and heads down towards Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit (see map below). As with the Machame Route, Lemosho trekkers need to transverse the Barranco Wall and then summit from Barafu Camp. The descent is via the Mweka route.

6 to 7 Days Machame route Kilimanjaro hiking tour either joining, private or shared or group is also known as the "Whiskey" route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore this route is better suited for more adventurous folks or those with some high altitude, hiking or backpacking experience. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the south, beginning with a short drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. The path leads hikers through the rain forest to Shira Plateau. Here, many of Kilimanjaro routes converge. Then the route turns east and traverses underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route. The six day variation combines days four and five, going from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp without staying at Karanga.

Beginning on the Lemosho Route, climbers will eventually split away and traverse the mountain’s northern slopes far away from the crowds. The extra time taken to adjust to high altitude on this climb mean it boasts the highest success rate of all routes.

This route approaches the mountain from the southern east, famously known as the “Coca Cola “ route. This route is the oldest route being used since 1889. Many tourists prefer this route because its easy to climb and guests are accommodated in huts in the style of dormitories. The route takes a minimum of five days but recommended to do six days climb to increase chances to make to the top easily. The second hottest option among the climbers is that the Machame route also referred to as “the Whiskey Route”. This route offers a good sort of views, landscapes, and experiences. The start line of the route, Machame Gate, is merely a 20-minute drive from Aishi Machame Hotel. Located on the southern slope of Mt Kilimanjaro, Machame Gate will lead you to the highest of Kilimanjaro along the exciting footpath which starts at the tropical forest, then runs through all the climate zones and finishes with the Arctic desert within the summit area. Camps along the trek are favorably located for a smooth and gradual acclimatization transition process. On the 3rd day, Machame Route converges with Lemosho and Umbwe at Barranco camp. You can choose from a six or seven-day climb. The latter one is very preferred for better acclimatization transition.
