Known for being beautifully scenic, the Machame Route also has the best summit success rate. This route allows you to “climb high, sleep low”, giving your body time to adjust to the changes in altitude over several days. Climbs can take six or seven days; however, we would always advise choosing the longer route for the best chance of acclimatization and reaching the summit.

From there you will hike for about 30 minutes and pass by the local coffee farmers where you will get a chance to hear how local farmers grow coffee and process it till it’s sold. Also, you will get time to prepare your own coffee and drink and take some home with you. This will take about an hour.

Lemosho Route is regarded as one of the prettiest route on Kilimanjaro. We begin trekking in the thick, fertile rainforest until we reach the wildflowers and shrubs of the heath ecosystem. Approaching from the west, we cross one of most beautiful areas on Kilimanjaro, the vast Shira Plateau, before traversing the mountain along the southern circuit. The Lemosho route is for those with previous backpacking experience

The Lemosho route approaches Kilimanjaro through forest and moorland from the west, crossing the caldera of Shira volcano and exploring the rock formations of the plateau, before traversing beneath the Southern ice fields of Kibo. The Shira Route is one of the less-trodden routes on Mt. Kilimanjaro that starts close Shira Ridge. It begins the western side of the mountain and is practically indistinguishable to the Lemosho Route.
