On this trip, you will hike on the Marangu Route with one night at Mandara Hut and towards Horombo Hut before returning to Mandara for lunch and then hiking back. You will NOT reach the summit. All short treks are offered on a private basis, and you can start on any day of the year. The short treks are geared for people who like to hike but reaching the summit isn't a "must do", and allow one to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak on the African continent. All trekking inside of the Tanzania National Park require the services of a certified Kilimanjaro guide, and the Marangu route is the only route where short treks are allowed. For an overnight hike you will stay at the park huts.

This is the deepest lake in the area, its depth its 97m deep and covers 4.2km square kilometer. It is the result of the volcanic activity and its roughly 250000 years old. This cycling tour will lead you out of the city heading south into the enormous and beautiful sugar cane fields. You will see entire villages constructed for plantation workers by TPC, The Tanzanian Plantation Company. From lush sugarcane you will begin to move deep into the rural and agrarian life of the local people. Keep a lookout for outstanding views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mawenzi in the distance as you ride alongside fields of corn, wheat, turnips, onions, and bananas. Quaint and tiny villages will appear along the route, as well as herds of cows, goat, and sheep. Materuni is located under the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel/airport early in the morning then head to Materuni village. Enjoy a morning hike in the village surrounded by beautiful tropical rainforests giving you a scenic view of the city as you approach the waterfalls for a refreshing dip in the waterfall pool, if the weather allows. You will also get to explore the cultural heritage of the Chagga tribe through their local banana beer and coffee roasted traditionally, whereas you can join in the coffee-making process to its final. You will have your lunch and fresh fruits at Materuni after a cup of coffee. Next is Kikuletwa hot spring with a fantastic pool with small fish that offer free feet massage. Enjoy a few hours of relaxing, chatting, and a swim while having a beer/soft drink before heading back to your hotel or airport.

At 0700hrs you will be transferred from your hotel in Moshi to Simba Farm where you will start your bike tour. Your cycle today starts with a downhill slope through the farm as you head toward the main rough road. You follow the main rough road through the Ngare Nairobi village and cycle along the Ndarakwai Conservancy border towards the West Kilimanjaro airstrip. You then follow the main dirt road towards the Tinga Tinga village. You will then proceed south towards the Ngabobo Village cycling through the dry and arid open grasslands, an environment completely different from the lush, green slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro which you have left behind. Wildlife such as wildebeest, giraffes, zebra and elands can be seen on this section of the ride. The final part of the path is a gradual ascent on a gravel road as you cycle through the Ngabobo Village towards the Maasai Lodge where the tour ends. You will then be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi. Total distance:49km

If you are not quite ready to tackle the summit of Africa's largest mountain, then Kilisa Tours & Safaris can arrange for you to do the first day of the hike up Mt Kilimanjaro. you will hike for approximately 3-4 hours from the base of the mountain. Here you will take a break while also having the opportunity to take in the stunning wildlife that surrounds you before starting your descent.

Relax after your busy week in the beautiful turquoise water of the Kikuletwa Hot Springs (they are not really that hot but more refreshing)! Experience the way the locals travel by hopping in a Tuk Tuk and weaving your way through local Maasai villages, Baobab trees and farms to see how people live in the country side. When we arrive at the hot springs after about 1 - 1.5hrs travel enjoy the tranquility of the water in a quiet space or opt for the rope swing for a bit of excitement! Entry ticket and lunch will be provided. Tubes are available for hire. The hot springs are home to many Doctor fish who will clean your dead skin if you sit still! When you are ready we will return back to Moshi and drop you off at your desired location. Note: the amenities (including change rooms and toilets) at the hot springs are very basic so we would encourage guests to use the bathroom before leaving and wearing their swimming attire to start the tour.
