Scotland Food and Drink selected my experience as one of the best fifty Food and Drink Experiences in 2025, and I am delighted because it is important for guests visiting the Highlands to eat the best of what the region has to offer, incorporated into traditional recipes, and I can guarantee a thoroughly Highland experience. The Cleikum Social Eating Club has been modelled on the Cleikum referred to in Sir Walter Scott’s “St. Ronan’s Well”, and who did more than the latter to introduce the Highlands for romantic destination travel? I was born and brought up in Inverness, and am enthusiastic about the visiting potential of this area, and know it well. I was a hostess/guide in the observation car of the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh during the summer season when I was at University. I provided a running commentary during the journey, and helped travellers with suggestions on where to eat on arrival, what they should see in the area, and information on the Isle of Skye.

This is a private transfer in one of our comfortable Mercedes Benz minivans collecting you from your hotel or airport of arrival and transporting you and your luggage to your preferred destination and also incorporating a tour on the way. This is the only private tour from Inverness to the Isle of Skye that takes you to The Fairy Pools , The Fairy Glen , Kilt Rock , The Old Man of Storr plus Portree in one day and back to Inverness and also gives you the opportunity to hike for 75 minutes at The Fairy Pools and 30 minutes at The Fairy Glen. This is a small private tour that takes you from Inverness down the Great Glen to Fort William and on to Glencoe. We will travel along Loch Ness side stopping at Urquhart Castle and then Fort Augustus where you can see the locks on the Caledonian Canal. We continue further down the Great Glen to Fort William stopping en route at The Well of the 7 heads monument and The Commando Memorial. Continuing on we visit Glenfinnan before viewing Neptunes staircase on our way to spectacular Glencoe. The Beauty of this itinerary is that it can be adjusted to suit your wishes within reason , if you wish to delete a place and add in another place or if you need more time in your favourite place then this can be done. We strongly advise against booking distillery tours on your own, as this can disrupt the tour itinerary. However, if you have already made a booking, please let us know in advance so we can adjust our schedule accordingly.

The popular novels and TV series, Outlander has brought great attention to many iconic landmarks across Scotland. This tour visits the must-see Outlander destinations in and around the Inverness area. These include; Culloden Battlefield – The site of the last battle of Jacobite Rising. Clava Cairns – One of the most sacred historic sites in Scotland. Dianna Gabaldon is said to have taken inspiration from this location for the Outlander series. Lochness and Urquhart Castle- better known to Outlander fans as the spot where Claire sees the Water Horse. Beauly Priory – Beauly Priory is one of three priories founded in Scotland in about 1230 for monks of the Valliscaulian order. Balmoral Castle & Royal Lochnagar Distillery From Inverness ​ Before stopping at the castle we will stop at the crathie kirk church for 30 mins before going on to Balmoral Estate. ​ In 2025 the grounds, gardens, exhibitions, gift shop and cafe will be open to the Public on a daily basis from 1st April until 31st July. Opening times are from 10.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m. however please note that the last recommended admission is at 4.30 p.m. We recommend that you set aside at least one and a half hours for your visit to Balmoral. This will give you time to visit the grounds, gardens, exhibitions, gift shop and the Pipers Hall Cafe. You will have access to the formal and vegetable gardens, the exhibitions in the stable area and largest room in the Castle, the Ballroom. Their is also a audio handset tour, which is available in English together with Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish translations. The audio tour is only available for admissions before 4.30 p.m.
