General description Eastern Mongolia has historically always been known as native land of Mongolians. No wonder why the great kings have chosen these vast plains of grassland plentiful of beautiful rivers and lakes. Great stretches of pine forests and land majestically towering holy mountains. Eastern regions probably are one of the less travelled and less discovered destinations of Mongolia. Despite its outstanding historical, archeological and religious sites, east of Mongolia always boosts with its unlimited natural beauties. Thru this trip, we will take around the less visited mysterious elegance of the East.

This is the special offers only in WINTER. If you come to Ulaanbaatar, you should not miss Genghis Khan Statue Complex which is currently the biggest (131ft/40m tall) equestrian statue in the world. It is connected to Ulaanbaatar by a paved road of 34mi/54km. The complex includes a recreation area, restaurants, and souvenir shops occupying the base of the structure. From here, you could use an elevator or walk to the head of the horse through chest and back of the horse neck where you will have a fantastic panorama view over the nearby area.  

Early in the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up from your location and drive 70 km east of Ulaanbaatar to the world’s largest equestrian statue, a 40 m tall stainless-steel statue of mounted Genghis Khan. Upon entering the statue complex, there is a small museum, souvenir shop, and a lift that takes you to flights of stairs upwards to the top of the horse’s head allowing you to get a panoramic view of the surrounding grasslands. While your visit, our guide will assemble the bikes so we can start cycling. Although near the capital of Mongolia, you will get a chance to cycle up and down on hilly steppe dirt road through vast valleys that stretch beyond the horizon, pass by animal herds, and visit modern nomadic families for a chance to experience their unique lifestyle. From here we assemble the bikes onto the support vehicle(s) and head towards Ulaanbaatar.

During your four-day nomadic experience, you will enjoy a taste of Mongolian life. Your journey will begin as you travel by train across the vast Mongolian steppe from Ulaanbaatar to Shaamar soum, accompanied by your native guide. Once in Shaamar soum, you will take a short car ride to the site of your nomadic homestay, just outside of Zuunburen. For the next two days, you will experience Mongolian life and culture like it has been for hundreds of years through activities such as milking cows, making dairy products, riding horses, and exploring the surrounding scenic countryside, including the natural beauty, Sukhanii Hutul. Each night, you will return to the ger you will share with your local nomadic family and enjoy local cuisine. At the end of your adventure, you will get one more bit of Mongolian life as you once again cross the vast steppe by night train to return to Ulaanbaatar.

If you want to know about nomadic life, staying with the hospitable nomads is a great way to experience real Mongolia at its best. You can see and try dairy product making, sheep herding, mare and cow milking etc. Most of them have extra ger for their guests neighboring their ger and you will stay in their guest gers, which are roomy and comfortable. You will enjoy real nomadic delicacies and beverages and can help the nomads in their everyday work. Washing facilities are simple in nature, outhouse mainly.

This tour starts and ends in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. You’ll spend one night with a nomadic family, experiencing their culture and traditions, and enjoy a traditional Mongolian BBQ. The next day, we’ll visit Hustai National Park, home to the reintroduced wild Takhi horses (Przewalski’s horses). You’ll also visit a local museum before relaxing at the park's tourist camp. On the third day, we’ll explore Terelj National Park, known for its stunning landscapes, and visit the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue, the world's tallest statue of a man on horseback. Then, we’ll hike to the Aryabal Buddhist Temple, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views. After lunch, you’ll experience a one-hour horseback ride. This trip features activities that will keep your children busy, and will allow them to explore unfamiliar environments and to experience natural surroundings in safety during your family tour. The trip includes overnights in gers, traditional Mongolian style felt homes, and opportunities to try new sports like kayaking and horseback riding. If we are lucky, we will also meet with reindeer herders. All our family trips are led by our team members who have extensive experience working with kids.
