Cerro Bayo is named after a particular horse breed. This mountain is part of the ridges and peaks surrounding lake Potrerillos. The general Potrerillos area is famous for its thermal SPA located in Cacheuta, and for serving as a starting point for many trekking trails. Lake Potrerillos was created as a result of building a dam on Mendoza river, and serves as a water source for the entire city of Mendoza. It is fed by glacier and snow-melting water coming down from the higher mountains via the river. The lake has beautiful turquoise water, reflecting the blue sky above. All of this breathtaking beauty is located less than an hour outside of the city, so you will spend minimum time traveling and maximum time immersing in nature.

I will pick you up at 7:30am from your accommodation. We will travel 2h to the South heading towards the Andes, up to where our experience takes place: Rosendo Pacheco's family ranch. This is in San Carlos, Valle de Uco region. You will learn how to saddle a horse and ride through the mountains for 1,30h, witnessing a remote, natural and wild landscape. We'll have time to stop for coffee and enjoy multiple views, take pictures and ask Rosendo any questions. If we are lucky to meet some cattle in the way you'll even get the chance to herd them down. Once we arrive in Los Toldos ranch, I will prepare a typical Argentinian barbecue -an 'Asado paired with local wine (veggie option on request). Around 4pm we will start the 1,30h ride back to meet the vehicle and return to the city.
