One of the very best places to view a sunset on Maui is atop the 10,000 ft. summit of Haleakala and your sensational Sunset Tour is the perfect way to enjoy the view! This exhilarating tour begins with a guided vehicle tour of the Upcountry area as well as Haleakala National Park. Along the way, we will stop at Kula Bistro and pickup dinners to be enjoyed at the summit. Your Certified Interpretive Guides will share with our guests the unique Culture and History of Maui and specifically the Upcountry area during the tour. Once inside Haleakala National Park, your interpretive guides will explore subjects such as the distinct geology and ecology of the surrounding area. Other topics of discussion include Traditional Ocean Navigation and Hawaiian Mythology. Once the sun goes down, our guests will be treated to one of the best places on earth for viewing the nighttime sky.

The Haleakala Day Journey has been one of the most popular bike tours offered at Mountain Riders for over 30 years. The tour begins at the entrance of Haleakala National Park and ends where the bike ride concludes in Paia Town, on the North Shore of the island! Our tours are conducted by our experienced guides, who will point out historic sites along the journey and offer unforgettable photo ops for your group. Depending on the whales’ behavior during your whale watching trip, you may see the whales slapping the surface with pectoral fins (their very long side fins), flukes (the tail), the peduncle (the strong muscles attaching the tail to the rest of the body) and the breach, this is when the whale rises completely out of the water and crashes down again. Never ever paddleboarded before?  This is for you! This is our Beginner Class. This is a private activity so just you, your Private Group and your Guide/Guides. We'll meet you on the beautiful, uncrowded sandy shore of Polo Beach... You’ll start out with a brief lesson on the shore. Then you will be helped into the ocean. Remember, your guides are there every step of the way. Next is a quick review of the shore lesson on the water, then you will be stand up paddleboarding in the heart of "Turtle Town" on the pristine coastline of Wailea-Makena!
