From December through March/April, the magnificent Humpback whales make their yearly migration from Alaska to Hawaii. Adventure North, and experience an older, more traditional Hawaii on the famous Hamakua Coast.  Mauna Kea volcano last erupted some 4,600 years ago.  However, that hasn't changed the fact that the volcano is still impressing visitors and locals alike.  Along highways old and new, we'll head from the highlands of Waimea, to the coastal jungles of Hilo down Hawaii's Hamakua coast.  Our trip along this historic and beautiful part of the island begins with a drive along some of the most scenic backroads on the island.  The backroads of the Hamakua coast wind through lush jungle gulches, crossing rivers, and passing scenic ocean vistas.  It is an afternoon drive through a Hawaiian slice of Heaven.

Enjoy remote locations around Hilo Bay, only accessible by boat! The underwater topography is a particularly unique experience with pinnacles, shelfs, canyons, lava tubes, sea life indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands, and healthy coral reefs.

The original volcano lovers tour. Start with a drive through quaint Hilo town where you’ll drive along the historic waterfront before heading out to the old fishing village of Kalapana. Your National Park Service certified guide will discuss the volcanology, geology, and history of Kilauea volcano, as well as providing in-depth narration on the various lava flows and flora and fauna that you’ll be passing by. Kalapana was destroyed by lava, as was the adjacent beach, Kaimu. Dinner included.

Happening at our farm you will learn how to brew your coffee at home like a pro. Our experience barista will provide all the basic knowledge necessary for brewing. Coffee brewing can be very simple with very little equipment and it can change the way you taste coffee. During this workshop we will brew the same coffee three different ways, and you will experience the differences of taste. All this is happening in our roasting room where you will also be able to see the roaster. And if you have time you can also add a free farm tour before or after the workshop.

Paint live orchid flowers on the Orchid Isle of Hawaii with local professional artist Star Bolton. Each Hawaiian island has a special nickname and the Big Island is called "the Orchid Isle". Star will guide you step by step through the elements of Art. Every participant will complete painting keepsake to take home with them at the end of the lesson. We will be working with acrylic paint on wood canvas board. Music and refreshments make it a delightful painting party in a beautiful outdoor painting gazebo.
