The walk with our specialist guide begins between jungle and mountain landscapes, the first point we reach is Chachabamba, a small archaeological site very important in the time of the Incas. Then we will walk for approximately 3 hours until we reach Wiñayhuayna, an impressive archaeological site that has Inka terraces or platforms, as well as religious and urban sectors. We will continue our walk until we reach Intipunku, from this place you can see Machupicchu in all its splendor, then we begin to descend to reach Aguas Calientes, where we will transfer to the hotel to settle and spend the night in this beautiful town. DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA At around 4:30 am you will be picked up from your hotel and leave Cusco at around 5:00 am (after all clients have been picked up). From Cusco you will pass through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo, arriving to your destination of Mollepata around 8.00 am. In Mollepata we will have breakfast and prepare our bags/duffels of 5 kilos, which will be given to the horsemen. From Mollepata we will take a bus to Challacancha (45 minutes) and in Challacancha we will start our hike. We will walk for 3 hours to Soraypampa, passing the view point of Hornada Pata where the valley splits into two (Valley of Mollepata and Challacancha). Soraypampa is also our lunch stop and campsite for the night. After lunch in Soraypampa you have the option to hike up to Lake Humantay located at 4220 m/13,850 ft which will take about 1 hour. The return descent will take around 45 minutes.

This tour is perfect for those short on time but eager to visit both the Sacred Valley and the Machu Picchu. In just 2 days you get to see both of these cultural highlights. We make our way through the ancient valley and find the tracks left by its old inhabitants; the Inca’s. While visiting cultural places like Salineras de Maras and Moray we get closer and closer to the final destination of this tour; Machu Picchu!

Choquequirao or cradle of gold in Quechua, is located at 3,085 meters of altitude, carved in stone by the Incas, where the organization of the Empire of Tawantinsuyo (The four regions) was strictly directed by an Inca ruler. Choquequirao is protected by the Apurimac River. and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains of Yanama, Ampay, Choquetarpu and Pumasillo.
