Please note that this tour does not use a private vehicle and uses public transport. This tour involves several hours of walking in the outdoors Learn all about Shinjuku from early Japan to present day at a local museum. Next visit one of Shinjuku’s beautiful local shrines hidden away from the fast paced centre of the city. This off the beaten path gem is a must see and is hard to spot unless you know where to look! Finally we will be at the very centre of this entertainment district where you will enjoy a guided tour and your lunch break to explore and eat at your leisure. The instructor is a specialist who formally studied Japanese lacquer art at Tokyo University of Art. In this experience, you’ll have the opportunity to practice Kintsugi (gold repair) on a handmade ochoko (sake cup) crafted at Uzumako Pottery Studio. You can choose your favorite ochoko from a selection of beautiful colors. Using a brush, you’ll apply Japanese lacquer along the cracks, then sprinkle metal powder on top to complete the repair. Your finished piece will be placed in a wooden box for you to take home the same day. Please allow it to dry for about one week before using it.
