As you enter the factory store "Und.", specializing in selling items and tools for lacquerware artists, you will immediately feel the ambience of a millennial culture that has been carefully preserved by generations of artisans. Your guide will explain the entire process of collecting sap from the Japanese lacquer tree and the following process of its refinement until it can be used by craftsmen. During the tour of the factory you will see some of the well-kept secrets of refining and coloring lacquer for the needs of local craftsmen. To avoid the crowds and the midday heat, we'll explore the shrine in the evening. This tour is perfect if you’re looking for a quick activity before or after dinner, a leisurely stroll, or some tips from our guide for the rest of your Japan trip. It’s a short and informative tour at a great price! We will meet at the exit of JR Inari Station. After exiting, turn left, and you will see a Daily Yamazaki convenience store. Our meeting point will be in front of the Daily Yamazaki store.

At the Kyoto Shibori Museum, this traditional Japanese craft class shows you how to dye a 46cm x 180 cm silk georgette scarf using the Kyo-arashi shibori method. You'll end up with a beautiful silk scarf to serve as a souvenir of your trip to Kyoto. Classes are usually individual and take 30 minutes to 60 minutes per class. Start by choosing your favorite color and learning how to fold your fabric in a particular way. Wrap a tube with the folded fabric and wind a string around it. Squish the fabric down to the bottom of the tube and dye it. While your fabric is drying (about 30 minutes), you'll learn more about shibori. Browse art pieces, tools, and samples displayed in the museum. The museum shop also sells a variety of shibori items, souvenirs, fabrics, and more.
