Mount Batur is located in Kintamani Subdistrict, Bangli District, From 1804 - 2000 Mount Batur erupted 30 times. The most devastating eruption was on August 2 - September 21, 1926, with the lava hoarding Batur Village and Ulun Danu Batur Temple. Mount Batur has an altitude of 1717mdpl Part of the mountain's body collapsed due to a massive eruption, so it formed a very large crater called the caldera. Climbing Mount Batur usually starts around 3 am and the time needed to reach the summit is approximately 3 hours for beginners.
