Goðafoss Waterfall & Turf House tour is the perfect introductory tour to North Iceland. We start the tour in Akureyri in Eyjafjord and drive the coastline to GrenjaðarstaðurTurf Houses and Museum. There we get insight in the heritage and history of the area, experiencing how people used live. Next we head towards Goðafoss Waterfall. After experiencing the power of Skjálfandafljót glacier river and capturing the picturesque waterfall we head back to Akureyri. You have the option to join the Forest Lagoon.

Our guides are fully qualified and have extensive knowledge of the area. Not only will you learn about the history, landscape and present day life on this tour you will also hear Icelandic folktales. This is a round trip through some of the most picturesque landscape in North Iceland. The total tour length is 4 hours. All travel time is included in that length. We first drive for approximently 35 min to Goðafoss, then another 30 min to Laufas Turfhouse Museum. From Laufas there is then another 30 min drive to the beautiful Christmas House & Gardens. After visiting the Christmas house we drive a short sightseeing around the town of Akureyri before dropping the passenger off. The Arctic Coastline slow drive tour goes along picturesque coastline road, impressive sea cliffs, small old fishing villages, local farmer's market and beautiful Siglufjörður. Siglufjörður was the main herring town in Iceland during the “Herring years”. In the early 20th century the workers arrived in full force to the area to make the most of this exciting time. Tour start in Akureyri and we do offer hotel, harbour or airport pickup/drop off free of charge. We begin with a visit to a former herring village, Hjalteyri, stepping 50 years back in time. We visit the local farmer's market Vellir in a authentic Icelandic farmers community at Svarfaðardalur and in Siglufjörður we visit the award winning Herring Era Museum. Here you will have ample time to explore the boats, workers living quarters, and the factory areas of this impressive museum. You will have time to explore the Siglufjörður town before we head back to Akureyri. Travel time is included in the total tour duration.

This unique phenomenon can only be found in a few places around the world, including Iceland, Hawaii, one in the Azores, and even on the planet Mars. Additionally, we will visit Dimmuborgir, an area of extraordinary lava formations. We will then proceed to the Hverir geothermal area, where many smoking fumaroles and boiling mud pots can be observed. After Hverir, we will travel approximately 40 minutes to see Dettifoss, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. We will have the opportunity to visit the enchanting Grjótagjá cave to admire the hot blue river. The adventurous can even take a photo standing on two tectonic plates.

To be free in the mountains on horseback is nothing short of breathtaking. Join us for the 1 1/2 hour adventure on horseback to the mountains. On this tour you have opportunities to tölt your horse, a special gait known to Icelandic horses. At the end of the tour you are invited to join us for coffee and light refreshments. The 1 1/2 hour tour consists of a brief introduction to riding Icelandic horses. Then we set out for riding. We then return to Stable Stop for unmounting, photo opportunities with your noble steed and some light refreshments.
