This tour starts heading south through wild traditional Crete, bringing us to our first stop at the picturesque village of Agia Galini. There we have 1,5 hours for a coffee and a walk around the alleys of the village. Our next stop will be Matala, world-famous for its impressive neolithic caves along the bay, that used to be shelter for the hippie-commune in the 70’s. Three hours free time is enough as well to swim and relax at the sandy beach of this place. On our way back we have a foto-stop at an interesting village of Spili with its well known lion-head fountains. A little bit afterwards we make a one-hour break at a botanical garden. You can stroll around or chill out at a cafe there.

Driving to the west of the island, we make our first stop in the beautiful city of Rethimnon, where we have some time for our coffee of breakfast. Moving on, we drive past the city of Chania and after a while, we arrive at the port of Kissamos, where we set out for our trip. During our boat trip, we have the chance to admire a vast cave – most likely an ancient shipyard, sea turtles or monk seals and of course, the dolphins of the area. We also witness an impressive geological phenomenon: the simultaneous lifting and sinking of the two sides of the island, where its western side rises up to 6-9 meters above the sea level.

On this trip we want to show you a bit of everything: traditional villages, churches, mountains, gorges and beaches. The first stop is at Kournas, the only fresh water lake on Crete. A drive through the country side takes us to the village Argyroupoli where a short round walk will take you through various periods of Cretan history to end up in the present again while enjoying a coffee or a juice. During the drive that follows you will notice changes in the scenery as we are approaching the south coast. Just before we catch the first glimpse of the Libyan Sea we stop in the Kotsifou Gorge to visit a beautiful stone church. Our largest break will be in the bay of Plakias where you can spend time at the beach, have a meal or stroll through the village. On the way back to Rethymno we drive through the Kourtaliotis Gorge where we stop so you can take pictures of this amazing and wild landscape.

Discover the village of Loutro, named after the Greek word for "bath", due to the many ancient baths in the area. Eat seafood and drink wine by the sea. Go for a swim in the warm blue sea. Marvel at the many famous white houses, and enjoy a relaxing sailing trip on a boat. Begin the excursion and travel from Rethymno, known for its harbor with fishing boats, to Chora Sfakion. Then, sail for 20 minutes to the village of Loutro, on the south coast of Chania. After you arrive here, you can spend 5 hours exploring in your own free time to do whatever activities you want. Go swimming in the clear blue waters of the sea. Eat some delicious local food such as fresh fish if you are hungry. Sip on wine by the sea. Also, admire the many white houses that make this place famous. Finally, board the boat and sail to Sfakia then return to Rethymno to finish your tour.

A short distance away will taste local wine. Then I will drive to Falassarna beach where you can spend 2 hours on the beach. Falassarna is a long beach with crystal clear waters. Its less crowded than other popular beaches. There is an option to customise the tour and do an olive oil or beer tasting, visit a monastery, archaeological or WW2 sites and cemetery. There is so much to see in west Crete. No tours on weekends or holidays. Locations can be visited 1st April to beginning of November, depending availability.
