Once you arrive in Uquía, you will transfer to a 4x4 vehicle where you will begin the road to Hornocal to enjoy those magnificent panoramic views. Back you make a stop in Humahuaca for 20 minutes. It is recommended to bring food for lunch as there is no time to stop at a restaurant in Humahuaca. Return to Salta is under way.

This is a taste of lush, sub-tropical jungle landscape, close to Salta city, and in complete contrast to some of the more rugged desert terrain of north-west Argentina. Our guide is experienced in hiking all terrain, and speaks English and Spanish. We have groups of a maximum of four people, so every hike can be tailor-made to your taste. From Salta city, we travel to Campo Quijano, a town famous as the base for workers constructing the Train to the Clouds railway line to the Chilean coast. We can stop to see an antique engine and the mausoleum of the train line's chief engineer, Richard Maury, from Philadephia, USA. From here we will climb into the stunning multi-coloured Quebrada de Toro to Ingeniero Maury, where our hike begins. It's 90 minutes drive each way: the walk takes between 7 and 8 hours. We start by scaling a steep gradient: a climb of nearly 1km in altitude over the first 3.75km, On this challenging hike, we reach a peak of 3,265m above sea level before a gentle descent to Inca ruins dating from the 15th century. La Cuesta del Obispo, La Piedra del Molino (3348 masl), Recta del Tin Tin (11 km road built by the Incas), Los Cardones National Park (only high altitude National Park in Argentina), Nevados de Cachi sighting (6,380 masl) and 2 hours free in the village of Cachí.

This 12-hour excursion begins in the Lerma Valley and then takes you on a drive to El Carril, continuing on to Chicoana. Marvel at the striking beauty of the gorges known as Quebrada de los Laureles and Quebrada de Escoipe. Drive along the Cuesta del Obispo, on a road with abundant curves. Take in panoramic views of the Enchanted Valley and small houses surrounded by fields of maize and fruit trees. By the time you reach the Piedra del Molino you’ll be 3,384 meters above sea level, the highest point on the trip. When you arrive in Cachi, you’ll have sweeping views of Nevado de Cachi and Payogasta. In the town of Cachi, you’ll stop to visit the archaeological museum and the church.

From the city of Salta, we will tour the center and south of the Lerma Valley, and then enter the Quebrada de Las Conchas Natural Reserve. Here we will find geoforms carved by nature such as La Garganta del Diablo, El Amphitheater, Las Ventanas, Los Castillos, La Yesera, El Sapo, El Fraile, El Obelisco, etc. In Cafayate you will have the opportunity to visit a winery, with tasting of the best wines in the area. After lunch, we return to Salta via the same route. We will be visiting a destination recognized as a Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO), discovering incredible landscapes and monuments, towns and cultures. We will visit unique towns such as Purmamarca, famous for the Hill of the 7 Colors, Maimará with its Painter's Palettes, Tilcara stands out for its Pucará (high mountain fortress) whose ruins have been partially destroyed.
